Why calibration matters

Safety systems depend on correctly aligned sensors.

A small change in camera or radar position can affect how the vehicle interprets the road around it.

These sensors may support:

  • Lane Departure Warning
  • Lane Keeping Assist
  • Forward Collision Warning
  • Automatic Emergency Braking
  • Adaptive Cruise Control
  • Pedestrian detection
  • Other driver-assistance features

Common repair triggers

When might ADAS calibration be needed?

Calibration may be required when repair work changes the position, mounting, view, or learned alignment of an ADAS camera or radar sensor.

  • Windshield replacement
  • Windshield removal and installation
  • Front bumper repair or replacement
  • Grille or emblem replacement
  • Front camera removal or replacement
  • Radar sensor or bracket work
  • Front-end collision repair
  • Structural or body repair
  • Suspension or ride-height changes
  • Wheel alignment
  • ADAS warning lights or calibration codes

Three calibration methods

Static, Dynamic, or Combined

The correct method depends on the vehicle and the repair performed. These are different procedures - not different levels of quality.

Static

Stationary calibration

The vehicle remains stationary while specialized targets and diagnostic equipment are positioned according to the required vehicle procedure.

The vehicle must be brought to our warehouse.
Dynamic

Road-based calibration

The vehicle is driven under the required road, speed, lane-marking, visibility, and weather conditions while the calibration is monitored.

The vehicle owner must attend and drive during the calibration. A valid driver’s license, authorization, and insurance are required.
Combined

Static and Dynamic calibration

Some vehicles require both a stationary target procedure and a road-based procedure following the same repair event.

The vehicle must be brought to our warehouse, and the owner must attend and drive during the dynamic portion.
